Thursday, 25 February 2010
We all know that the microchip industry is getting even more competitive. With Intel and AMD at each other’s neck, it’s pretty hard to ignore the competition. Nevertheless, it also seems that ARM and Globalfoundries are partnering with one and another with the bid to produce their 28nm Cortex-A9 SOCs. Generally, these future generation chips will be able to produce 40 percent better computational power, and it even reduces power consumption by 30 percent. Also, it seems that batteries running on these chips will get 100% improvement in longevity.

According to sources, it seems that the mass production of these Cortex-A9 SOCs will begin in the second half of 2010. Well I’m highly anticipating these next-gen chips – aren’t you?
